Our Program’s Objective

The Guanaco Program is a Spanish-language cyber awareness initiative by LatinOz QLD, inspired by the Australian Government’s "Act Now, Stay Secure" campaign and its message:

“What are you risking online?”

Supported by the Department of Home Affairs, Guanaco responds to the rise in cybercrimes like scams, identity theft, and online fraud, which have led to:

  • Financial loss

  • Emotional stress

  • Family disruption

  • Business reputation damage

  • Unsafe content for children

  • Loss of personal or business data

Australia is a frequent cyber attack target—Spanish speakers are not exempt.

Guanaco offers workshops, resources, and support—all in Spanish—to help individuals, families, and entrepreneurs stay safe online.

Why "Guanaco"?

The guanaco, a native South American animal, is known for its vigilance and resilience—always alert, always ready to warn others of danger.

The Guanaco Program draws from this spirit:
protecting our community from online threats through awareness, unity, and strength.

The guanaco in our logo stands for:

  • Vigilance – staying alert to digital risks

  • Unity – supporting one another

  • Resilience – adapting in tough times

  • Cultural pride – honouring our Latin American roots

Together, we protect our digital herd.
